Just heard about this campaign from the Humane Society. Over the years Ben and Jerry’s has grown from the kind of hippie who lives in a teepee and rides around on an old fashioned push-scooter to reduce his ecological footprint, to the kind of “hippie” with a few Grateful Dead CDs he spins in his BMW while gabbing on a cell phone about outsourcing his company’s factories to Central America.

Case in point: chickens. You’d expect the makers of Cherry Garcia ice cream to get their eggs from factories that treat chickens humanely. Well, you’d be wrong. But if we can use their love beads image to pressure them to change, it might help start a movement. Sign the petition.
