Derive Even More Meaning In Life From Your Floral Dining Table Centerpiece By Making It Eco-Friendly

Martha Stewart’s daily tips on suppressing the yawning, crushing emptiness of suburban angst through cheerful, nostalgia-dripped decorating projects took a enviro-friendly detour this week with her “Going Green” series. All week Martha Stewart featured guests and segments on making your home and lifestyle green, including Laurie David, Simran Sethi of TreehuggerTV, Kermit the Frog… Clay Aiken… and Mr. T.

You can read a blow-by-blow from the folks at ecorazzi, who’ve been live-blogging all week. Here’s a brief sample:

I just heard Martha say, “I pity the fool!” It’s going to be an interesting hour…

Mr. T has stopped wearing all of his gold chains because the people of Katrina lost everything. He is promoting his new reality show “I Pity The Fool” where he motivates procrastinators and revs up slackers. He’s making spaghetti carbonara and is very nervous with the “domestic diva”.

Ummm…Martha just recommended that we leave the cold water running as we strain pasta from the hot water…to keep the steam down. But meanwhile, the water is just running down the drain. Watching Martha Stewart and Mr. T trying to have a conversation is almost painful.

This minor faux pas aside, Martha provided 25 eco-friendly lifestyle tips over the course of the week, and had a Q&A with eight-year-olds and Kermit the Frog about being nice to nature. Martha even got noticeably perturbed, according to ecorazzi, when the questions strayed a little off-message, to things like “Kermit, do you have friends?” Cause, you know, you seem like kind of a nerd.

But if you prefer moving lights and noises to long blockquotes, here’s a youtube clip (linked from eco-chick.) And yes, Martha is wearing a green sweater.
