On October 15, bloggers from all over the world will take a break from blogging about boys and bad poetry, and start getting green for an annual event known as Blog Action Day. Over 11,500 bloggers so far have vowed to blog about the environment this Monday, reaching an estimated audience of almost 9 million people. Major blogs have signed up to participate, including Lifehacker, Dumb Little Man, Get Rich Slowly, Web Worker Daily, Zen Habits, Treehugger, Wise Bread and many more.
"We want to display the potential and the power of the blogging community, which is a disparate community but one with an amazing size, breadth and diversity," said Collis Ta'eed, an Australian blogger from FreelanceSwitch.com, and a cofounder of Blog Action Day. "By bringing everyone together for one day, we can see just how much can be achieved, and how much we can be heard."
There’s still time to sign up your blog at www.blogactionday.com. If your site has a specific focus like technology or politics and you’d like to keep to your format, just try to sway your topic a bit towards the green, like new advancements in alternative fuels or candidates who are speaking out about the environment. The environment affects everyone and therefore, every aspect of life. Get creative. Get green. And on October 15, get ready to blog!
